Emerging Scientist, nouvelle revue en libre accès pour les étudiants

Créée en 2016 par la Société Française de Physique à la suite de la 8ème édition de l’International Physics Tournament (IPT), Emerging Scientist accepte principalement des articles redigés par les étudiants et dans une moindre mesure par les enseignants et par les chercheurs. Elle est conçue pour offrir aux étudiants une première expérience de publication. Elle peut être utilisée par les enseignants pour fournir du matériel didactique ou une introduction à un sujet de recherche.
Emerging Scientist est publiée par EDP Sciences avec le soutien de l’Académie des Sciences

Les 6 premiers éditeurs scientifiques mondiaux (Elsevier, Wiley, Wolters Kluwer, Thomson Reuters, Taylor & Francis, et le groupe Springer-Nature) captent 65% des profits générés globalement par l’édition scientifique, grâce à des taux de marge opérationnelle hors-norme de plus de 36% sur CA…..

EBSCO Partners with Portico to Ensure Long-Term Availability of Digital Archives
“… EBSCO launched its Digital Archives in 2009 as part of an ongoing initiative to digitize important primary documents of historical source materials used by scholars and students. EBSCO will be taking part in Portico’s D-Collection Preservation Service which preserves digitized historic collections on behalf of participating publishers. This service is solely supported by publishers that have committed their collections to the archive and more than 120 d-collections are preserved in Portico today (…)”

Reed Elsevier 2014 annual report: negative growth and changing business strategy

The 2014 Reed Elsevier annual report is now available
Revenue and profit decrease: before adjusting for currency, Elsevier is reporting a
4% decrease in revenue for Scientific, Technical and Medicine and a 3% decrease in
profit. The numbers are a 2,048 GBP revenue, 762 GBP adjusted operating profit, for
a 37% profit rate (down from 39%). Elsevier is counting both revenue and profit as a
slight increase after adjusting for currency (p. 12)

Wiley/Figshare partnership ‘to support data sharing’

repository organisation Figshare.

journal workflows and article publication, in an effort to support authors who wish

“… According to the agreement, all print and electronic book and journal orders
placed via an EBSCO online collection-development or ordering system will be
automatically updated in the Ex Libris Alma® library management service through
EBSCO’s use of the Alma Real Time Acquisition application programming interface
(API). This first phase of the integration will streamline and further automate the
acquisition process for libraries. In addition, EBSCO is making its proprietary
linking technology available to Ex Libris to improve the accuracy of links from Ex
Libris solutions to full text articles hosted on the EBSCO_host_ platform (…)”

“ Springer has acquired the three pioneering ‘living’ open access journals:
Living Reviews in Relativity (impact factor 19.25), Living Reviews in Solar
Physics (impact factor 17.64) and the recently launched journal _Living Reviews in
Computational Astrophysics from the Max Planck Society (…)
With the first Living Reviews in 1998, the Max Planck Society launched an
innovative model for scientific publications. The development of the _Living
Reviews journal is based on a collaboration between the Max Planck Institute for
Gravitational Physics and the Heinz Nixdorf Center for Information Management, the
precursor organization of the Max Planck Digital Library. The unique concept at the
heart of the _Living Reviews is that authors can update the content as needed. The
texts remain ‘living’ and, unlike conventional survey articles, won’t inevitably
become outdated. The _Living Reviews will complement Springer’s open access
journal portfolio and other ‘living’ publications like the Live References (…)”_
