IESC Cargese Meeting

6-18 August 2012

A large part of this meeting has consisted in a school. The event has been organized by Agnès Maurel and Philippe Petitjeans as directors of the school, Jean François Mercier, Abdelwaheb Ourir and Felipe Barra in the organizing committee. We also asked to William Parnell from the University of Manchetser, UK and Sergio Rica from the Universidad Adolfo Ibanez, Santiago, Chile, to participate to the organization of the school. The event took place in the Institut d’Ecole Scientifique de Cargèse, in Corsica- France and received the support of the CNRS.

Beside discussions on our common projects, this meeting has been the occasion to benefit from the presence of experts in the domain of wave propagation in complex media, in different contexts of waves. Details on the school program are given below.

Objective of the school: The objective of this school is to present recent theoretical and experimental advances in the field of wave propagation in complex environments. The specific focus will be on the effects of disorder and nonlinearity since many aspects of these effects remain largely unexplored or not understood. The specific emphasis of this school will be to bring together the different scientific communities of wave physics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, mechanical/acoustical waves, water waves, and the community of applied mathematics in order to provide an assessment of the current state-of-the-art and stimulate discussion on some identifiable issues.

It is envisaged that this will encourage interaction and significant collaboration of mutual benefit.
