author%22%2C%22firstName%22%3A%22Mickael%22%2C%22lastName%22%3A%22Tanter%22%7D%5D%2C%22abstractNote%22%3A%22Hemodynamic%20changes%20in%20the%20brain%20are%20often%20used%20as%20surrogates%20of%20neuronal%20activity%20to%20infer%20the%20loci%20of%20brain%20activity.%20A%20major%20limitation%20of%20conventional%20Doppler%20ultrasound%20for%20the%20imaging%20of%20these%20changes%20is%20that%20it%20is%20not%20sensitive%20enough%20to%20detect%20the%20blood%20flow%20in%20small%20vessels%20where%20the%20major%20part%20of%20the%20hemodynamic%20response%20occurs.%20Here%2C%20we%20present%20a%20%5Cu00b5Doppler%20ultrasound%20method%20able%20to%20detect%20and%20map%20the%20cerebral%20blood%20volume%20%28CBV%29%20over%20the%20entire%20brain%20with%20an%20important%20increase%20in%20sensitivity.%20This%20method%20is%20based%20on%20imaging%20the%20brain%20at%20an%20ultrafast%20frame%20rate%20%281%5Cu202fkHz%29%20using%20compounded%20plane%20wave%20emissions.%20A%20theoretical%20model%20demonstrates%20that%20the%20gain%20in%20sensitivity%20of%20the%20%5Cu00b5Doppler%20method%20is%20due%20to%20the%20combination%20of%201%29%20the%20high%20signal-to-noise%20ratio%20of%20the%20gray%20scale%20images%2C%20resulting%20from%20the%20synthetic%20compounding%20of%20backscattered%20echoes%3B%20and%202%29%20the%20extensive%20signal%20averaging%20enabled%20by%20the%20high%20temporal%20sampling%20of%20ultrafast%20frame%20rates.%20This%20%5Cu00b5Doppler%20imaging%20is%20performed%20in%20vivo%20on%20trepanned%20rats%20without%20the%20use%20of%20contrast%20agents.%20The%20resulting%20images%20reveal%20detailed%20maps%20of%20the%20rat%20brain%20vascularization%20with%20an%20acquisition%20time%20as%20short%20as%20320%5Cu202fms%20per%20slice.%20This%20new%20method%20is%20the%20basis%20for%20a%20real-time%20functional%20ultrasound%20%28fUS%29%20imaging%20of%20the%20brain.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%2203%5C%2F2013%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1109%5C%2FTUFFC.2013.2592%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%220885-3010%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22http%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fieeexplore.ieee.org%5C%2Fdocument%5C%2F6470411%5C%2F%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22GSDRE8AN%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222022-02-22T18%3A34%3A16Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
