Cyprien Blanquart wins the Best Student Award at IEEE IUS 2023

Our PhD student Cyprien Blanquart has won a Best Student Paper Award at the 2023 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, held in Montreal in early September. He received the prize in the category “Medical Ultrasonics”, for his work on “3D microvascular monitoring with a cMUT RCA ultrasound sensor”.

Cyprien Blanquart investigates 3D ultrasound imaging using new sensors, with the aim of developing wearable devices for monitoring applications. In his work, Cyprien uses row-column adressed (RCA) arrays made of cMUT sensors. RCA approach enables to capture volumetric data while keeping a low number of elements and electronic channels, and cMUT is a cost-effective – and hence scalable – technology in ultrasound sensing. This new ultrasound probe was demonstrated for 3D imaging of the microvasculature of the finger tip. The developments are performed in a private-public partnership associating our Institute Physics for Medicine Paris and the French company Moduleus.

Amongst the finalists of the Student Paper Competition was also Solène Ruinet, another of our PhD student, who works on multimodal imaging of the brain.
