Mickael Tanter honored with the 2025 Technology Award from the Eduard Rhein Foundation

We are proud to announce that Mickael Tanter has been awarded the 2025 Technology Award from the Eduard Rhein Foundation, together with Mathias Fink, for their pioneering work on shear wave elastography.

Shear wave elastography is a technology that measures tissue stiffness in real time using ultrafast ultrasound imaging of shear waves, making it possible, in some cases, to detect cancer without a biopsy. What began as fundamental research in wave physics has become a technology now embedded in most medical ultrasound systems worldwide, with a tangible impact on millions of patients.

The Eduard Rhein Foundation Technology Award recognizes major technological advances and counts among its past laureates Claude Shannon, Andrew Viterbi, Richard Hamming, and Paul Lauterbur.

The award ceremony took place on April 25, 2026, in Munich.

Congratulations to Mickael Tanter on this well-deserved international recognition!
