This is a quick advert to let you know about a post-doctoral research assistant (PDRA) with me. It is a 2-year research position with possible extension depending on funding and performance (see below for details). More positions will be available in future years.

The PDRA will develop innovative models for brain modelling. Since my interests regarding brain modelling are broad (development, trauma, neurodegenerative diseases) and depend on multiple computational and analytical techniques (asymptotics, PDEs, FEM, solid and fluid, network theory, ….), the actual research to be performed will depend on the expertise of the successful candidate and on the most exciting current research problems. I am looking for somebody extremely motivated who will be fully involved in the research programme and the group.

Interviews will be in December or January and the position can start shortly after a decision has been reached.

Junior Research Chairs LabEx ENS ICFP Department of Physics, ENS (Ecole normale supérieure), Paris

The Department of Physics at ENS Paris invites applications for three JRC (Junior Research Chairs) at postdoctoral level. Appointments will be for two years with a possible one year extension. The Department aims at recruiting outstanding candidates with international experience. Research activities can be experimental and/or theoretical.

This year, the Department aims at hiring a Junior Research Chair in Statistical Physics who will actively work with the group of G. Biroli (research topic: glassy, activated and complex dynamics: from physics to machine learning).

For the two other positions, the program actively encourages experimental projects through a reserved budget. Research themes should correspond to one of the following ones:
– Quantum physics: from atoms to condensed matter
– Biophysics: from the cell to the organism
– Non-linear physics: from the laboratory to the cosmos
– Statistical and theoretical physics

In addition to an internationally competitive salary, ENS-ICFP provides an attractive travel allowance and research funds (150,000 euros for experimentalists). The positions are funded by the ENS-ICFP grant obtained through the French National Excellence initiative.

ULB has obtained a COFUND funding from the MARIE SKLODOWSKA-CURIE (H2020) program. This COFUND program, entitled IF@ULB, will allow to hire 63 postdoctoral researchers at the ULB for the next five years. Three calls are planned. They will be open to all research domains (not only science).

The first call will be opened on August 1, 2018 and be closed on October 15, 2018. The two-year postdoctoral fellowship will begin between April 1 and October 15, 2019. Eligible researchers must have a PhD (with a maximum of 7 years of seniority) and must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Belgium for more than 12 months during the last 3 years before the call deadline.

Interested researchers should contact me in August or early September to have enough time to write a research proposal. The subject of this proposal is open to discussion with the candidate but should be related to my research activities (see my website below). The candidate will actively participate to the writing process.

We are searching for a postdoctoral researcher to work at the interface of biology and physics, on a project using actin and DNA-origami technology to generate new biomimetic model systems for the study of self-organization of active materials. The position will be joint between the labs of Guillaume Duclos (Physics Department; duclos-lab.org) and Bruce Goode (Biology Department; goodelab.org) and is part of the NSF-funded Brandeis MRSEC bioinspired soft materials program (brandeis.edu/mrsec).

We are looking for competitive applicants with a PhD in Biophysics, Soft matter or Biochemistry. Preference will be given to researchers with strong skills in protein biochemistry, quantitative fluorescence microscopy, and/or DNA-origami.

The applicant will work with state-of-the art microscopes, and receive training in a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative environment. This will include opportunities for quantitative modeling in collaboration with theory groups.
